The local based newspaper known as South Coast Herald has recently gave a special recognition award certificate to the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality during the Best of South Coast Readers’ Choice Awards which were held at the Port Shepstone Country Club last week.

According to the South Coast Herald’s Branch Manager, Mr Bevis Fairbrother, the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality was honored this award based on their assessment as the management in terms of how they compare this municipality with the rest of other municipalities in the district and the conduct of municipality in general recently in terms of delivering the services to the communities.

Their assessment was also based on the fact that other municipalities in South Africa face challenges such as community protests, corruption and municipal leadership challenges and of which the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has non or few of those challenges and instead it excels and received clean audit accolades. Lastly the contribution of readers from Hibberdene to Port Edward have also an added value to the assessment process according the South Coast Herald.

In light of this special recognition, the municipal leadership would like to take this opportunity to express a word of appreciation to the South Coast Herald for this good gesture and further thank its management for awarding this special recognition certificate which the municipality feel strongly that it will go a long way in strengthening relations with the media houses and also encourage Ray Nkonyeni Municipality to work diligently.
