The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality will during its Mayoral Izimbizo Program launch the Thuma Mina Campaign as announced by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa in his maiden State of the Nations Address earlier this year.

The Thuma Mina campaign is linked to izimbizo due to the fact that all communities will be reached during this period, ensuring that the message of the campaign is disseminated to all corners of the municipality. The Campaign has three key elements namely; building an active citizenry, enhancing the capacity of the state and promoting leadership and partnerships throughout society.

The focus areas in our municipality will be on Revenue Enhancement, Billing Systems, Customer Care and/or swift response to people’s needs. In order to ensure the effective implementation of this campaign, the municipality has identified key stakeholders who will be part of campaign activities that will happen prior to each imbizo.

The program will unfold as follows; on 01 November 2018 the campaign will kick-start with the official opening of the Thokothe Sportfield Concrete Road and a visit to Gcilima Clinic to oversee activities. The program will culminate in the Cluster 2 Imbizo at Kwa Mphelelwa Sportsground. On 02 November 2018, there will be a clean- up activity of an illegal dumping spot at Emashembeni next to the N2 in Ward 21 before going to Cluster 5 Imbizo at Kwa Maveshe Hall.

On 05 November 2018, there will be a Blitz at Gamalakhe Shopping Center and Taxi Rank advocating for payment of municipal services as well as the registration for Indigent support by qualifying beneficiaries. Then the delegation will proceed to the Handover of a toilet paper-making machine to a Co-op/SMME at Gamalakhe ZG Hall and the Official Opening of Ward 26 Multi-Purpose Center. Then the day will be wrapped up by the Cluster 4 Imbizo at the Qinabout Community Hall. On 07 November 2018 the leadership and stakeholders will officially launch the War against Illegal Dumping and Littering campaign in Umtentweni. The day will end with the official opening of the tarred Commercial Road in Ward 20, followed by the Cluster 6 Imbizo at Port Shepstone Civic Center.

On 08 November 2018, there will be a Blitz at Margate Taxi Rank focusing on Ext 3 and 7. This will involve the distribution of brochures advocating for payment for municipal services and registering for Indigent support. This will be followed by the Pothole Repair Program in Casuarina Road in Margate and to complete the day, the Cluster 3 Imbizo will be held at Uvongo Town Hall.

On 09 November 2018 the municipality will inspect the work on stormwater drainage at Sea Park in Ward 16 and the cleaning of Albersville Cemetery in Ward 12, and later attend the Cluster 7 Imbizo at the Protea Park Hall.

The municipality will visit the Izingolweni Taxi rank on 12 November 2018 to check on illegal operators, followed by a ceremonial lightning of the Highmast in Ward 32 and then the Cluster 1A Imbizo at Endimeni Hall will wrap up the day. As part of the campaign, there will also be a visit to Ntokozweni Village (Home for the elderly) the following day to check on the status of issues raised on Mandela Day, and a ceremonial lighting of the Highmast in Ward 35, then the proceedings will finish at the Cluster 1B Imbizo at AB Gigaba Hall.
