Communities of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality officially received projects that were set to change their lives for the better.

The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality leadership started on a high note visiting communities around handing over projects to ensure that their lives are improved. The handover process of Infrastructure projects was linked to the Mayoral IDP roadshows (Izimbizo). Her Worship the Mayor Cllr Nomusa Mqwebu, accompanied by leadership of the municipality handed over the Upgrade of Irene Road in Margate Extension 3 under Ward 6 which had always been requested by the community in the previous Izimbizo. This R2.1 million project created about ten (10) job opportunities during the construction phase.

The handing over of this road was followed by other public works projects which included the Mbhele Bridge located at Mvutshini village which is being linked to the well-constructed concrete steep which both created eight (8) job opportunities with a project cost of R 809 843.79.

The next stop was the Qhinqa Sportfield located at Kwa Nodalane near Izingolweni at Ward 30 under Cluster 1. In this project about R4.1 Million was spent and managed to create twelve (12) job opportunities. Then the municipal leadership went on to handover the Kwa Madakane Pedestrian Bridge. Again at Cluster 1, Esidlidlini Community Hall was also handed over, valued at R4.1 million.

Lastly the R1 million the Council Chamber Guard project employed two (2) people, and will add value in controlling access to the premises of the headquarters of the municipality. The municipality will also have a dedicated facility for the security sersonnel where they can monitor the movement around the Council Chamber precinct.The leadership commended the contractors and the management for such a state of the art public works project which was also completed timeously.
