In February of this year, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality issued a “Municipal Notice”, calling for proposals from interested parties/service providers for the “Lease and Development of the former Margate Amusement Park” situated on Erf 3378 Margate, and the response was overwhelming.

The interested parties who met the criteria set in the advert, which amongst others, is knowledge and experience in family entertainment and food and beverages, responded positively.

As a Municipality, we are pleased to announce that one of the service providers is already appointed, though he is not yet on site. The Conteco Group, the appointed service provider made a presentation before the Council meeting this morning and received the thumbs-up from Council.

This development will cost about R45 million. It will consist of two phases, and it will be called Boulevard Precinct which is a new brand on the coast. Phase One will consist of Café` dining, visual games and a bar, and the intention is to finish phase one by early December this year. The Beach Club will also be part of phase one. Phase 2 will begin early next year, and will consist of more games and a Skate Park.

A number of job opportunities will be created (estimated at 200 jobs). We believe that the Boulevard Precinct, like all other structures in our municipality, will meet the highest standards of quality.
