The Margate Airport is set to be a hive of activity this coming festive season, with Cemair expected to increase its scheduled number of flights to OR Tambo International airport over this period.

This was revealed at a recent presentation by the Department of Development Planning Services, the custodians of operations at the airport. The increase is due to the increased volume of travellers expected during this period. Explaining the decision, the Department indicated that statistical trends over the past four years indicate that the airport experiences its heaviest traffic over the December- January holiday period.

For this reason Cemair has decided to schedule an extra flight to OR Tambo International. The schedule will run from 07 December 2018 to 13 January 2019. During this period, every day there will be a flight departing from Margate airport at 11h10, and another at 17h00 in the afternoon. The municipality welcomes this development and is confident that it will have a positive spinoff for tourism and economic development of our area.
