Both HCM and Ezinqoleni Municipalities closed their books with Clean Audit Reports

Both the former HCM and the former Ezinqoleni municipalities received Unqualified Audit reports with other matters. They also both received the Clean Audit in terms Demarcation reports that is the period between 01 July and 09 August 2016. The former Hibiscus Coast Municipality and the former Ezinqoleni Municipality prepared and submitted to the Auditor General the Annual Financial Statements for the ended 30 June 2016 in line with the legislative requirements as stipulated in Section 122 of the Municipal Finance Management Act No. 56 of 2003, as well as those of the period ended 09 August 2016.

The audit of the Annual Financial Statements of the Municipality for the year ended 30 June 2016, as well as for the period ended 09 August 2016, had been completed and the reports from the Auditor-General dated 30 November 2016 and 21 December 2016 had been received. The reports were Unqualified for year ended 30 June 2016, and Unqualified with no findings (commonly as a Clean Audit Opinion) for the period ended 09 August 2016 in respect of both former municipalities. An Action Plan has been drawn up for addressing the matters that were raised by the Auditor General.

This best audit report for the former municipalities will build a firm foundation and inspire Ray Nkonyeni Municipality to retain clean audit.​​
